POST MARITIME FESTIVAL.

The excitement of the 2005 maritime festival may well be over but life, and the town goes on apace. There has been no shortage of excitement of different kinds since the end of June when the last of the tall ships  sailed out of port  and over the horizon. In conjunction  with both the local ROTARY organisation  and the pupils of St Benedict's High school, the borough gardeners have exercised their skills once again to make our Georgian town even more attractive to the eye, especially since we have had the recent spell of gloriously sunny weather. The floral ship Bee has  upped anchor and changed it's berth, there's been the Lions Carnival and yet another cruise shipo has seen fit to enjoy the sights of our locality while, courtesy of  the Rotarians, we now have two permanent mementos of their service to the local community. Given the weather, gardeners always take delight in displaying their blooms and our borough gardeners never let us down. Examples of their  many talents were seen all over the town hanging from walls , standing guard on corners or complimenting shop window displays along our town streets and encouraging relaxation in  the gardens of St Nicholas and  the former Holy Trinity Church.
